Exodus España

Exodus is a youth ministry that began in Northern Ireland almost 30 years ago with the desire to disciple young people and provide alternatives to the temptations faced by young people. Over the years they have become known for short-term mission teams, mentoring and high energy youth events.

 

Their model of mission teams is one of the most noteworthy aspects to the ministry: young people (15-25 years old) sign up to a weekly small group in January and meet for discipleship, fundraising and ministry preparation for the six months until summer when they travel for 10-16 days of cross cultural ministry with a local host church or ministry (including some of our own ECM missionaries). Over the years over 10,000 young people have participated in an Exodus team. 

 

Since 2008 Exodus have sent teams to partner with Spanish churches. However, over the last 3 years the ministry has grown exponentially in Catalunya in partnership with ECMers David and Samantha Gilkinson. Last summer 7 churches hosted teams and over 200 young people from Catalunya and Ireland were involved in running kids clubs and outreach events.
 
Over the last couple of months David has launched the organisation Exodus España to be able to continue to provide discipleship and service opportunities for young people and equip the local church. This summer Exodus España have 45 young people signed up to go from Spain on mission teams and over 250 young people will serve over 12 days in Catalunya.
