In the UK ECM is focusing on Discipleship and church planting, especially through partnering with local churches and existing networks. We are doing this across different regions (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland), also alongside a variety of denominations (Baptist, Episcopalian, Presbyterian), and partnerships including with Intercultural Ministries Ireland.

We also are active in envisioning and equipping the UK church, by helping people find their way in serving in God’s mission, through mobilising, Bible college teaching, and networking.

  • Across UK: Jim and Christine Memory are based in the UK and are involved in mission mobilisation, Bible college training, and Christian collaboration in conjunction with the The Lausanne Movement.
  • in Gloucester (England) Rita Rimkiene, is partnering with West England Baptist Network (Webnet) to make disciples in hospitality of an open home, called Shalom House.
  • in Glasgow (Scotland) in 2025, Tim and Lauren Scoular plan to move from Australia to partner with St Silas Church to see a new church planted in Glasgow.
  • In Belfast (Northern Ireland) Noah and Suzi Bartlett are serving asylum seekers and refugees alongside Presbyterian church, and Noah is worship co-ordinator for Intercultural Ministries Ireland.

Economy
The world’s first industrialized economy – now primarily a post-industrial service economy and highly dependent on financial and business services. The post-WWII decline through poor management, low investment, labour unrest and high levels of public ownership was reversed from the mid-1980s to the late 2000s. One of the hardest hit by the 2008-2009 economic crisis (the impact of which will be felt for some time to come), but still the world’s fifth-largest economy. Unemployment was 2.5m in 2010. Resistant to entry into Euro monetary system.

The statistics are meant to give an impression, not to stigmatise. Religious statistics taken from "Operation World, 7th edition, 2010" for the full United Kingdom, see also www.operationworld.org
