Mission work
ECM is present in Croatia through evangelism, church planting and discipleship training. A congregation founded in 1998 in Zagreb has been the source of many events, trainings, activities, clubs and other organized gatherings. There is also collaboration with the East European Bible Institute that helps the church planting team in Croatia and Bosnia.

ECM longs for...
Croatia is a country with many scars. For hundreds of years until the 1990s, it has been the scenery of battle and war.

A large part of the population is Roman Catholic, or at least they call themselves that, because a ‘real’ Croatian is a Roman Catholic. However, there is a decline in interest now that the county is growing economically after the war and tourism is skyrocketing.

ECM would love the Croatians not to seek their happiness in materialism or wealth, but that they will find purpose in the growing number of Christian communities and that they will come to realize that the Gospel is the only source of rest in times of war and peace, wealth and economical crisis.

Facts

Economy
Long-term Communist mismanagement and the war with Serbia undermined a previously solid economy. Recovery is still in progress, with relatively high unemployment and low wages. A resurgent tourist sector and the privatization of state industries have helped Croatia begin to turn the corner and develop over the last decade.
